The British Crown Dependencies of Bermuda and Montserrat are the latest overseas territories and former “tax havens” to sign Tax Information Exchange Agreements with the UK’s tax authorities: pledging to pass on financial intelligence on an automatic basis.
This closely follows other similar agreements between HMRC and Cayman Islands; the Isle of Man; Jersey; and Guernsey in promising to provide HM Revenue & Customs with financial date about UK residents, companies, and trusts automatically from 2016.
Bermuda, is properly entitled The Islands of Bermuda, and is also referred to as the Bermudas or the Somers Isles. It is a British Overseas Territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean, off the east coast of the United States of America. Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, located in the Leeward Islands, and is part of the chain of islands known as the Lesser Antilles, in the West Indies.
